How to Get Back into Your Exercise Routine

To those of you who made your New Years’ resolutions to get fit, this article may seem a little behind the calendar. But as I see spring approaching, I’m getting motivated to get back into my exercise routine. Soon I will not have the excuse of cold weather (anything below 50 degrees here in LA) to stay inside and do “research “on the computer instead of getting myself out the door and taking a walk. Of course, I could pull out those workout DVD’s collecting dust on the shelf. But, it seems rude to interrupt the cat’s nap with that pulsing music and bossy workout guy yelling out moves. Maybe it is time to get disciplined and remember the reasons to stay fit.

It helps the brain.

The more efficiently your body moves, the less strain you put on your brain to perform its everyday functions. Is there scientific proof for this? I don’t know-but I do know that when I am not gasping for air after my extensive search through the house, I can sometimes remember where I put my glasses.

It keeps you young.

I know I have read this somewhere. I question this one because the wrinkles seem to show up whether I exercise or not. So, I’ll just aim for young-at-heart, rather than young-looking. It does bring on a sense of accomplishment to be able to keep up with the kids as they leisurely stroll through the mall.

It keeps your clothes from shrinking.

For years I blamed my washer for the shrinkage of all my clothes. It never occurred to me that my expanding torso was to blame for my ill-fitting wardrobe. It’s amazing how I see myself in the mirror on a daily basis, and the extra pounds are not obvious. But a candid Facebook picture taken by one of my so-called friends reveals my situation not only to me, but to the entire web world. With this crazy recession going on, I can’t afford to go buy a whole new wardrobe, so I must take the second option: exercise.

Now that the reasons have been brought back into focus, how do I work exercise into my daily routine?

(1) Walk instead of sit.

I love my computer time. I love my sewing moments. I teach piano for 5-6 hours a day. In other words, I spend a lot of time with my bottom on a seat. My new resolution is to spend more teaching time on my feet. The fun part of this activity is when the kids ask me why I’m pacing around the room while they play their music! After a long walk, you might feel some pain and you might feel sore. This is now here hip flexors come into the picture. (2) Park far away.

(3) Write it down.

I am not normally a list-maker, but it makes me feel more accountable when I see my to-dos printed out on paper. I am resolving to write down and make time for a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise a day. (I think I will use a pencil.)

These viri do three different things:

  1. They disable all administrative controls over the computer. This will make removal near impossible as the user cannot de-activate the services that the viri have hijacked…
  1. The wonderful trojan horse rears its ugly head, writing your computer’s end-game without ever showing its true identity. Trojans are known to be the most dangerous of viri for a reason…
  1. Malicious spy-ware will then take hold of your computer, transmitting personal information and just about any information that you DON’T want transmitted across the web. Social-Security numbers, IP addresses, Credit Card numbers, Home Address, Phone numbers, account information (for websites such as yahoo! mail, AC, myspace, facebook, etc.), Bank Numbers, program information, etc. I’m sure by now, I don’t need to tell you how potentially damaging the transmission of this information can be.

So while your computer is having viri written into its operating system, another thing is happening. You’ll notice that your desktop background will change to a red and black image with the text “Warning: Your system is been infected! Please activate your anti-virus software, and do not operate your computer until all viruses has removed.” (Yes, the grammer was THAT bad.) This will then be followed by a big red “X” being planted at the bottom right of your screen. A pop-up alert window will appear over it saying “Your computer is unprotected. Downloading Anti-Virus Software now.” Then a shield bearing the same colour scheme as the Windows logo will appear next to it, and another pop-up alert will appear saying “Your system is infected. Please activate your virus software now!” At this point, the “Internet Security 2010” program will activate itself, prompting you to immediately BUY a license just so you can have your computer back.

Again, at this point, I am sure that I do not have to tell you that you should NOT BUY THE FRIGGIN’ LICENSE. You will be required to input your credit card number, bank account number, full legal name, address, etc. DO NOT GIVE THIS PROGRAM SAID INFORMATION. You WILL be the next identity theft victim if you do, and quite possibly computer-less as well.

Now, you may ask “what can I do if my computer IS infected with this program?” Here’s what you do:

1: Immediately disconnect your internet land-line. This is that Ethernet (it looks like a wide telephone cable) that goes into the back of your computer, or wifi-caster if you have one.

2: Turn off your computer and remove the power cord.

3: Take it to an Virus-Removal shop. The sooner the better.

Under normal circumstances, I would suggest some basic tools to remove the virus from your computer, but in this case, the virus happens to be one of the most malicious viri I have encountered in my years of computer experience. Trust me on this, as I used to write viruses when I was ten years old (No worries, I only sent them to people who tried to hack my computer or tried to give me a virus), this virus is REALLY good at what it does. Hell, if I was still into that kind of thing, I would buy the programmer a friggin’ drink. But the point is that this virus goes beyond my capabilities in computer protection and virus removal. Just the other night, I had to reformat my hard-drive and performed a Department of Defense level of overwrite (three overwrite passes). Even after re-installing my Operating System, damage caused by the virus was still apparent. I was forced to re-reformat my hard drive and this time I performed six more overwrites.

So, the purpose of this article is to give everyone who reads this fair warning. Do not try to remove the virus yourself. Do not fall for the fake anti-virus program. And most of all, immediately see a computer expert.
